Famine, poverty, and war
This isn’t working any more

The violence grew
At first, no one knew
The depths to how far they’d go
When their backs were against the wall

Futile prayers in every language
Hurled toward the sky
“What could we have done different?!”
The news stirred the paranoia
Exacerbated by the lies

We tore each other apart
Animalistic tendencies
Escalated tactics
And mathematic contingencies

The privileged learned through social media
Some countries rioted in the streets
Others knew nothing
But in the end,
No one was spared
Our fate was intertwined
