When I gaze across the world, what do I see? Lost souls Broken families Leaving home for uncertainty Fleeing violence for opportunity Same old excuses unfold Borders divide and deny “Keep ‘em out, keep ‘em out, drive them out!” Xenophobic battle cries, “These job stealing freeloaders are nothing but a bunch of radical, religious terrorists” Let’s gain some perspective When one of us stumbles the rest of us fall It’s all a façade This notion of control We try to brace ourselves The supports won’t hold When does it end? In all my years there has yet to be a reprieve from violence and famine, corruption and greed We can find a way to co-exist What gives you the right to say where they can sleep out night? How do we hold together when the world tears itself apart? There’s too much ignorant bias and not enough heart It’s all a façade This notion of control We try to brace ourselves The supports won’t hold When does it end, these centuries of loss?
I love it. Have to agree with still bummed: this packs an emotional punch but rocks hard. I've played this whole album repeatedly over the last week which is unusual for me. Exhilarating, poignant, intelligent, melodic. Robin Ward
